What is an Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF)?

An Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) is a basket of securities that make it easier to invest in a large number of companies with little risk and maximum reward.

An ETF can track an index, a commodity or a basket of assets—just like an index fund—but trades like a stock on an exchange.
