Microinsurance Uptake in Kenya Surges 72%, Driven by Digital Growth and Consumer Demand
Popular products now include health, personal accident, last expense, and agriculture insurance, with health policies expanding to cover maternity and specialist care.
Microinsurance in Kenya has grown by 72% in recent years, driven by shifting consumer needs amid economic challenges, according to the Association of Kenya Insurers (AKI). Popular products now include health, personal accident, last expense, and agriculture insurance, with health policies expanding to cover maternity and specialist care, and livestock insurance gaining traction among farmers.
The rise in microinsurance is fueled by digitization and a broader range of policy options, with 18 underwriters now offering products, up from 11 in 2015.
